PROPHETE project

E-mail Print

The PROPHETE project has been notified by the French Research National Agency (ANR) to IEEA in february 2013. This three years duration project aims to develop and validate a prediction tool for radiation and propagation in the HF and VHF bandwidths. In the frame of this project, the antennas and propagation calculations will be integrated in a unique tool. PROPHETE will give an estimate of the budget link both for the ground wave and the sky wave for an antenna placed on a terrain with arbitrary profile and varying electric characteristics. This development is of prime interest for ground wave radar qualification. It will be of great support for a user to help him for a system deployment taking the ground environment (profile and electrical characteristics) into account.

This project is to day at mid term of its development. The work done so far will be presented at IEEE Conference on Antennas Measurements and Applications (CAMA) in Antibes, November 2014. [pdf]

IEEA partmers on this project are the Laboratoire d'Électronique et d'Électromagnétisme (L2E) of University Pierre et Marie Curie and the University of Limoges (XLIM).

IEEA's Scintillation Station in Bahir Dar

E-mail Print

In collaboration with the University of Bahir Dar and the DLR, a new station has been set up in June in Bahir Dar (Ethiopia). Analyzing the data collected will provide a better understanding of the ionospheric scintillation phenomena of the GNSS signal in Africa. Two other stations, set up by the University of Berlin (TUB) and the DLR may aim to measure the sizes of the inhomogeneities bubbles in the ionosphere.
